New medical technologies are emerging at HepaLife Technologies (OTCBB: HPLF).
Working with our unique and patented cell-based technologies, our scientists hope to improve the quality of life for those with liver disease. To make all drugs safer by developing better toxicity testing. And to ward off pandemic flu with a vaccine that is faster to produce.
We invite you to learn more about our research, meet our managerial and scientific team, follow our progress, and become as excited as we are about developing these urgently needed and life-saving products:
Avian Flu Vaccine
Epidemiologists fear that a bird flu pandemic is eminent. Our cell-based technology has many benefits over traditional vaccine production. Most significantly, a cell-based vaccine can be produced faster, and there is potentially less chance of contamination. Our work is supported and protected by five issued patents.
Bioartificial Liver
Each year an estimated two million people die of liver disease. Today a bioartificial liver is closer to reality because of our stable, patented PICM-19 immortalized cell line. The hepatic characteristics of the PICM-19 cell line have been shown to have potential application in the production of an artificial liver device.
Drug Toxicity Testing
The PICM-19 cell line is also the basis for a much-needed drug toxicity test. Prescription drug side effects account for 200,000 deaths each year, and drug toxicity is the single most common reason for the FDA to deny approval or withdraw a drug from market.
Institutional Funding
Finally, because of the importance of our products in development, we have obtained significant institutional financing to further our goals.
